To enable Nawantale applicants to apprentice to local contractors who will build the classrooms
and campus buildings required for the Diploma courses for K-12. To provide employment for residents who are contracted to clear land, apprentice in masonry, carpentry, and electricity/solar installation and auto maintenance skills. To establish habitat upgrade goals and utilize trained Nawantale workers to implement home improvements as apprenticeship “examinations” for technical training course completion certificates awarded by the Project. To train small groups in landscaping design/maintenance, water system installation and maintenance, plumbing and sanitation/septic systems, childcare, and health care assessment training. To provide micro-loans for small business start-ups which evolve from the Skills Schools

Community Health and Health Education
To assess the health needs of all Nawantale residents in the following public health areas:
HIV-AIDS, diabetes, vision, hearing, mental health, hygiene, nutrition and food preparation, prenatal care, and others. To refer residents to local providers, health clinics and/or provide educational classes as follow-up to screening results. To provide safe, potable water via rooftop catchment systems and wells to meet human needs. To implement solutions to food availability during dry seasons and alleviate hunger through a campus agricultural co-op site. To provide veterinarian and agricultural education for residents to reduce food-borne diseases and/or crop contamination.

Teen/Adult Literacy Education
To provide High School Literacy classes in Math, Reading, and Writing using Uganda’s Certified teachers and the Uganda Secondary Education (USE) curriculum for grades 9-12. To continue to add high school and secondary course content which replicates the USE curriculum so that course completions result in certifications, diplomas, or entrance into colleges by graduates of the Uganda Community High School. To provide classroom equipment and supplies to enhance education, especially computers. To recruit and contract certified teachers, hire and train classroom aides, educational administrative and human resources staff from the village. To publish course catalogs of classes available to all residents of the surrounding area to allow for a first come, first served basis. To work closely with the Skills School Without Walls training programs to provide workplace literacy skills, e.g. application letters, daily log and form completion skills, computer literacy, etc.

Library and Literacy Outreach
To provide a lending library and materials resource center for all residents, students, and visitors to augment the coursework available at the Community School campus. To implement a system which conforms as closely as possible to acceptable computerized library systems for tracking and maintenance. To contract for librarian(s) to staff and provide outreach about library services to the local community as needed. To procure books and materials for the library.

Childcare for Adult Students
To provide infant childcare services for all parents enrolled in classes at the Community School during school hours. To secure/build a facility where infants may be kept in a clean, hygienic environment supervised by trained Childcare Providers contracted from the Nawantale village. To keep accurate records on the health and well-being of all infants under the care of the facility, and to hold regular parental conferences regarding infant care as needed. To provide emergency communication with classrooms or health providers via cell phone technology.

Elder Literacy and Leadership
To provide leadership training in School Board management and Policy decision-making for all elected School Board Members and Elder Committee Members who guide the Community School policies. To provide appropriate budgetary and fiscal training, training in contract negotiation and selection, and to assist with the required literacy to conduct banking, purchasing, curriculum assessment, and health assessment processes for the community. To assist with the preparation of the School Board Constitution and By-laws, legal framework and non-discriminatory policies of the charity. To work closely with the Administrative Assistant to the Director to implement administrative policies locally and to provide local political officials with regular updates about the school programs.

Elders Eager to Learn, Serve and Lead - 2007
Athletic Education
To provide athletic supervision and training for teens, girls and boys, who are students in the school. To provide physical games and athletic coaching for competitive and team sports, individual physical health programs, and/or special physical programs for challenged students. To contract a coach to provide training literacy in sports rules, team skills, and the human body. To coordinate with the Primary School in Nawantale regarding sports events, use of field and facilities, equipment and materials.

Primary School, K – 7
To provide primary education for children presently not served due to family poverty. To explore relationships with the existing government Primary School, expansion, Montessori Programs, and other effective primary educational systems so all Nawantale children are served.

Young Girl Not in School….yet - 2007
To accomplish these essential Programs, the Project has already purchased one acre of land for the campus. A total of 25 additional acres is available for the expanded campus, agricultural fields and garage, wells, classroom buildings, library, administrative center, guest lodging, and future conference center which will enable the Community School to sustain its major economic presence as both employer and institution of learning. These Programs need your generous financial support.
